And we have a winner...

...our new favorite Christmas note card. Inspired by our favorite Christmas cartoon (anyone who knows me at all will guess). Here's a hint: his heart was two sizes too small.

The latest in the store...

Well my friends, it's the week of Thanksgiving, and I'm in the mood to shop. And bake. And eat. And... well, let's just say I have holiday fever. There's still plenty of time to place orders for Christmas cards and notes for gifts. And our little elves will continue to work their magic in the store!

Everyone has their favorite cozy cable knit sweater, right? Well this one reminds me of mine. I love the look of a black and white, or softly toned sepia photo against these bright colors. For just a little extra flair, there's a glittery frame to accent the photo.

There's something about the combo of robin's egg blue and classic red that we just love. It's fresh and classic at the same time. We've added a simple, embossed place card to contrast the worn wood back ground. This would make a perfect gift for someone who likes shabby chic!

fab new note cards for the holidays

So we're on a roll. Maybe it's because the Christmas music started wafting through the stores the day after Halloween. Or that there have been trees on display at the superstores for weeks. Or perhaps that little cold snap. Whatever the reason, we're in the mood to share festive, cool Christmas notes. And here they are:

Tips for taking great holiday photos

It's a beautiful day in Florida! We're savoring a brisk morning in the 60's! We've been busy designing the latest addition to our holiday collection. This card would work perfectly for any toddler photo. And if you have a little boy, we can easily change the colors! Read more about how we customize each of our designs to match your photo here.

Can you believe it's already time to start thinking about your holiday photos? No matter what your budget may be, if you have a digital camera, you can get a great family shot. Here are a couple tips to get a photo that would look fabulous on your holiday card.

1. Take it outside. Yes, you can certainly take indoor photos, but it's a little trickier to get a professional looking shot. The reason is, with indoor shots, your flash will automatically go off. And with most flashes that are attached to digital cameras cast harsh shadows behind your subject and wash out the face. But if you go outside, you'll get a natural look without expensive lighting equipment.

The key is to shoot in the late afternoon, when the sun is starting to go down. That way you'll avoid everyone squinting in the bright light. And the soft light of the late afternoon is quite flattering.

2. Clean it up. Take a look around for just a moment before you shoot. Think about how your background will look in the photo. It's worth just a little bit of effort to tidy your area or reposition everyone to get a clean, uncluttered, professional look.

3. Let it be. Don't worry about stilted poses and pained smiles. If your little one has a lollipop stain on her mouth, that just adds a little more character to the photo! Your family and friends will always favor a natural, spontaneous photo over a stiff pose.

4. Get close! When you zoom, your family gets to be the focal point, and that's what we're going for, right? That's one of the single more important tricks that separates the amateurs from the pros.

Most importantly, have fun, and keep clicking! If you keep these tips in mind, we can edit your photo to look like a professional shot!
